Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. sirloin steak
  • 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup dry sherry
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 Tbsp. grated lemon rind
  • 1 tsp. dried whole chervil
  • 1 tsp. dried whole parsley
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • freshly ground pepper
  • 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • hot cooked noodles or rice

Instructions

  1. Partially freeze the steak; slice diagonally across the grain into 1/4-inch strips.
  2. Brown the meat in hot vegetable oil in a large skillet; remove the meat and set aside, reserving pan drippings.
  3. Saute mushrooms, chopped onion, and minced garlic in the reserved pan drippings until tender.
  4. Return the steak to the skillet; add dry sherry, chopped lemon rind, dried chervil, dried parsley, salt, and freshly ground pepper.
  5. Cook over medium-low heat for 10 to 12 minutes or until most of the liquid evaporates.
  6. Remove from heat; add cream cheese, stirring until melted.
  7. Stir in sour cream; return to heat and cook just until hot (do not boil).
  8. Serve over hot cooked noodles or rice.
