- Boil potatoes with bay leaf until 3/4 done.
- Cool, peel, and coarsely grate the potatoes.
- Heat butter, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, salt, pepper, green onions, and 1 1/2 cups of shredded Cheddar cheese.
- Gently stir the sauce into a greased 11x7 inch, 2-inch deep casserole dish.
- Bake in a 350°F (gas oven) for 30 minutes.
- Combine remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheese and crushed corn flakes; sprinkle over casserole.
- Bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes until topping is golden and bubbly.
