Curry Beef Stew

Ingredients

  • 3 large onions
  • 1 1/2 to 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 bunch green onions
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. curry powder
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp. turmeric
  • 1 (1 lb.) can stewed tomatoes
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar

Instructions

  1. Slice onions thin or chop.
  2. Brown in Crisco; add meat and cook until done, but not browned.
  3. Add chopped green onions, all spices and then tomatoes.
  4. Cook over slow fire for 1/2 hour.
  5. Five minutes before serving, add vinegar and sugar.
  6. Let cook 5 minutes.
  7. Serve hot over cooked rice.
