Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups jam (strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, apricot or peach)

Instructions

  1. Sift flour, baking soda, salt, and all spices together.
  2. Work in sugar gradually until mixture is creamy.
  3. Add beaten eggs all at once and beat hard.
  4. Stir in jam.
  5. Mix flour mixture alternately with milk and stir only until flour disappears.
  6. Don't beat.
  7. Pour batter into 9-inch cake pans.
  8. Bake at 375°F for 30 to 35 minutes.
