- Combine raisins, snipped dates, and water in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly, then allow to cool.
- Cream together eggs or egg substitute, margarine or vegetable oil, liquid sweetener, and vanilla.
- Sift together cinnamon, flour, and baking soda.
- Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the cooled date mixture.
- Beat well until smooth.
- Chill the dough for several hours.
- Drop teaspoon-sized portions onto a greased baking sheet.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 to 12 minutes until golden.
