Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. instant minced onion
  • 2 tsp. dill seed
  • 3/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 cup creamed cottage cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 unbeaten egg

Instructions

  1. Soften yeast in warm water.
  2. Combine cottage cheese, sugar, instant minced onion, butter, dill seed, salt, baking soda, egg, and yeast in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add flour gradually to form a stiff dough, beating well after each addition.
  4. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 50 to 60 minutes.
  5. Stir down the dough and turn into a greased 8-inch round casserole (1 1/2 or 2 quart).
  6. Let rise in a warm place until light, about 30 to 40 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 40 minutes.
  8. Brush with soft butter and sprinkle with salt before serving.
