- Soften yeast in warm water.
- Combine cottage cheese, sugar, instant minced onion, butter, dill seed, salt, baking soda, egg, and yeast in a mixing bowl.
- Add flour gradually to form a stiff dough, beating well after each addition.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 50 to 60 minutes.
- Stir down the dough and turn into a greased 8-inch round casserole (1 1/2 or 2 quart).
- Let rise in a warm place until light, about 30 to 40 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 40 minutes.
- Brush with soft butter and sprinkle with salt before serving.
