Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 lb. ground pork
  • 3 large green peppers
  • 6 medium onions
  • 1 bunch celery
  • 2 cans tomato sauce
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups bread crumbs
  • cayenne red pepper sauce
  • tomato juice

Instructions

  1. Mix ground beef, ground pork, beaten eggs, and bread crumbs together in a large bowl.
  2. Form the mixture into hot dog shapes.
  3. Dice green peppers, onions, and celery.
  4. Coat the bottom of a large pan with a small amount of oil and heat.
  5. Add diced onions to the pan and brown them.
  6. Add the browned onions, diced peppers, celery, tomato sauce, and tomato juice into a slow cooker.
  7. Place the shaped meat into the slow cooker with the vegetables and liquids.
  8. Add enough tomato juice to cover the meat entirely.
  9. Add cayenne red pepper sauce to taste, either hot or mild.
  10. Cover and let simmer in the slow cooker for 5 to 6 hours.
  11. Serve in hot dog rolls or over rice. Can be frozen for later use.
