Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 heads cabbage, quartered
  • 1 to 2 lb. Conecuh sausage, cut into 3 to 4 inch pieces
  • 3 to 4 medium onions, sliced
  • 2 cups Pinot Grigio white wine
  • water
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large stock pot, layer one quartered head of cabbage at the bottom.
  2. Add sliced onions, then another layer of cabbage, and finally the sausage pieces, repeating until all ingredients are used.
  3. Pour in 2 to 3 inches of white wine and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper to taste.
  4. Add enough water to cover the bottom of the pot, about 2 to 3 inches deep, to prevent sticking.
  5. Bring the mixture to a light boil, then reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer until the cabbage and onions are tender, about 45 minutes.
