Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
  • 1 cup dates, finely chopped
  • 1 cup pecans

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Make a well in the center and add the cooking oil, eggs, and vanilla flavoring.
  3. Beat the mixture until smooth.
  4. Add the finely chopped dates and pecans, then mix well.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 11 x 7 x 1.5-inch shallow dish.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 40 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before cutting into bars while warm.
  8. Dust the bars with confectioners' sugar before serving.
