- Combine ground chuck, ground beef, chopped onion, beaten eggs, oatmeal, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
- Add crushed soda crackers gradually until the mixture is easy to handle and can be shaped into balls.
- Dust the meatballs lightly in flour.
- Brown the meatballs in 1 tablespoon of oil or Crisco until evenly browned.
- Drain off excess grease from the meatballs.
- Pour about 1/2 to 3/4 cup ketchup over the browned meatballs.
- Add enough water to cover the meatballs halfway.
- Cover the dish and simmer for about 45 minutes to 1 hour until cooked through.
