Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Wheat Germ
  • 1/2 Cup Powdered Dry Milk
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 8 Tbsp. Meat or Bacon Drippings or Margarine
  • 1 Egg Beaten
  • 1 tsp. Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Beef or Chicken Broth
  • 1/2 Ice Water

Instructions

  1. Combine whole wheat flour, wheat germ, powdered dry milk, salt, garlic powder, and brown sugar in a mixing bowl.
  2. Cut in margarine or meat drippings until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the beaten egg and beef or chicken broth; mix well.
  4. Add ice water gradually as needed to form a firm dough into a ball.
  5. Pat or roll the dough into a 1/2-inch thickness on wax paper.
  6. Cut into shapes using a dog biscuit cutter.
  7. Cover a cookie sheet with foil and lightly oil the foil.
  8. Place the biscuits on the prepared sheet and bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes or until browned at the edges.
