Ingredients

  • 10 slices bread
  • 1 lb. grated extra sharp cheese
  • 5 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • sausage

Instructions

  1. Remove crusts from bread and dice.
  2. Mix bread cubes with grated cheese and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and dry mustard.
  4. Add the bread and cheese mixture to the egg mixture and let stand for 30 minutes.
  5. Lay partially cooked and drained sausage in an 8 x 8-inch baking dish.
  6. Pour the egg and bread mixture over the sausage.
  7. Place the baking dish into a larger dish filled with water to create a water bath.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour or until the top is brown and fluffy.
