Farmer's Brownies are rich, fudgy chocolate treats with crunchy nuts and a delightful cocoa flavor, perfect for satisfying sweet cravings or sharing at gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped nut meats

Instructions

  1. Stir butter into cocoa and hot water; allow to cool.
  2. Sift dry ingredients together and stir into cocoa mixture.
  3. Add eggs; beat in sour milk and then vanilla.
  4. Add chopped nut meats.
  5. Spread batter on a greased 16 x 11-inch jelly roll pan.
  6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 20 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool before topping with icing made of half cocoa and half powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons of softened butter.
