Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. Grease and flour a tube pan.
  3. Cream butter and sugar thoroughly.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
  5. Alternately add flour and 3/4 cup sour cream to the batter.
  6. Dissolve baking soda in 1/4 cup sour cream and add to the batter, blending well.
  7. Add almond extract and salt.
  8. Stir the batter well.
  9. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 1 hour and 5 minutes.
  10. Cool the cake in the pan for 20 minutes.
  11. Remove from pan and sift powdered sugar over the warm cake.
