Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup fig preserves
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternating with milk, stirring lightly.
  5. Stir in fig preserves and chopped pecans until well blended.
  6. Pour the batter into greased or paper-lined muffin tins.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
