Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1 c. vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. fig preserves, chopped
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add oil, beating well.
  3. Add eggs and beat well.
  4. Add buttermilk and vanilla, mixing thoroughly.
  5. Stir in preserves and pecans.
  6. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
  7. Bake at 350° for 1 1/4 hours.
  8. Let cool for 10 minutes and remove from pan.
  9. Pour warm Buttermilk Glaze over warm cake.
