Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • bread
  • celery
  • onion
  • salt
  • parsley flakes

Instructions

  1. Mix ground beef, salt, and egg together well.
  2. Prepare the filling with remaining ingredients: bread, celery, onion, salt, and parsley flakes.
  3. Roll out the meat mixture on a floured board. Place wax paper on top before rolling.
  4. Cut the rolled out meat into six squares.
  5. Place a filling ball in the center of each square, pull the meat up around the filling, and seal all edges.
  6. Brown the filled meat balls in Crisco, turning all around to evenly cook.
  7. Remove the meat balls and prepare gravy, possibly adding beef bouillon for extra flavor.
  8. Cover and simmer the meat balls in the gravy for 1 hour on low heat.
