Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/4 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1/4 c. chopped green onions
  • 1 (10 3/4 oz.) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 (16 oz.) loaf French bread
  • 1/2 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef, green pepper, and onions in a large nonstick skillet, stirring until beef crumbles.
  2. Drain excess fat and return mixture to the skillet.
  3. Add condensed cream of mushroom soup, water, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Slice the French bread loaf into sections to serve as 'boats' and fill with the beef mixture.
  7. Sprinkle shredded Cheddar cheese over the top before serving.
