Ingredients
- 3/4 cup vinegar ⓘ
- 1 1/2 teaspoon celery salt ⓘ
- 1 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon salt ⓘ
- 5 teaspoon sugar ⓘ
- 1/8 teaspoon red pepper ⓘ
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper ⓘ
- 1/4 cup cold water ⓘ
- 6 large ripe tomatoes, peeled and quartered ⓘ
- 1 green pepper, sliced into rings ⓘ
- 1 onion, sliced into rings ⓘ
Instructions
- Mix vinegar, celery salt, mustard seed, salt, sugar, red pepper, black pepper, and cold water in a saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and boil hard for 1 minute.
- Pour the hot mixture over the peeled and quartered tomatoes, sliced green pepper, and sliced onion.
- Cover the mixture and place in the refrigerator to chill.
- Before serving, add sliced cucumber.
- Serve very cold as a salad on lettuce or as a relish.
