A hearty five-layer casserole combining potatoes, ground meat, carrots, tomatoes, and onions, seasoned with salt and pepper, baked to perfection for a comforting family meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 c. sliced potatoes
  • 2 c. hamburger meat
  • 2 c. sliced carrots
  • 4 Tbsp. chopped onions
  • 2 c. canned tomatoes
  • margarine
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Layer sliced potatoes in an oiled baking dish, add bits of margarine, sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  3. Add a layer of cooked hamburger meat, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  4. Layer sliced carrots, then add bits of margarine, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour canned tomatoes over the vegetables, then add bits of margarine, salt, and pepper.
  6. Repeat layering as needed, finishing with a tomato layer on top.
  7. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for about 1 hour.
