Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, chopped fine
  • 1 tsp. corn oil
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped thyme or 1 tsp. dried thyme
  • 1 tsp. crushed fennel seed
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 apple, pared and shredded
  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
  • pinch of nutmeg

Instructions

  1. In a nonstick skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped onion and shredded apple in corn oil for 5 minutes, stirring until soft.
  2. Let the cooked mixture stand until cooled.
  3. In a bowl, combine ground turkey, chopped thyme, crushed fennel seed, ground allspice, pepper, and nutmeg.
  4. Add the cooled onion and apple mixture to the turkey mixture and mix well.
  5. Shape the mixture into patties.
  6. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  7. Cook the patties about 3 1/2 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
