Fruit Bars (Molasses Bar)

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 1/3 c. light brown sugar
  • 1 1/3 c. Crisco shortening
  • 4 tsp. salt
  • 1 3/4 Tbsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1/3 c. light corn syrup
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 1/2 Tbsp. honey
  • 2 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 6 c. all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Combine sugar through corn syrup (first 9 ingredients) and cream well. Add three eggs and blend well. Add honey and molasses. Add raisins and blend. Add flour and blend well. Spread mixture on parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake one egg and moisten top of egg wash. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes. Cool. Cut into 2 x 4-inch rectangles.
