Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/3 c. molasses
  • 1 c. strong coffee with 1 tsp. soda dissolved in it
  • candied fruit

Instructions

  1. Sift together the salt, flour, cinnamon, cloves, and baking powder.
  2. Cream the butter, brown sugar, molasses, and strong coffee with soda dissolved in it.
  3. Add the creamed mixture alternately to the sifted dry ingredients.
  4. Stir in the candied fruit and raisins.
  5. Pour the batter into a loaf pan and bake at 350°F for about 50 minutes.
