Ingredients

  • 1 cup oleo (melted)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup unsifted flour
  • 2/3 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine melted oleo, sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, eggs, milk, and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla in a mixing bowl.
  3. Beat well until smooth. Stir in chopped walnuts.
  4. Spread the batter evenly in a greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  5. Bake for 40 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
  6. While brownies are baking, melt chocolate chips with sweetened condensed milk and remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla in a heavy saucepan.
  7. Immediately spread the melted chocolate mixture over the hot brownies.
  8. Cool, chill, then cut into bars and serve.
