Garlicky breadsticks with a rich, roasted garlic flavor and a crispy texture, perfect as an appetizer or side for any Italian-inspired meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 bulb garlic
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Wrap garlic bulb in aluminum foil and place in a small baking pan.
  3. Bake in the oven for 70 minutes or until soft. Remove from oven and let cool.
  4. Unwrap the garlic and cut off about 1/4-inch from the top of the bulb.
  5. Squeeze out the soft garlic cloves from the bulb.
  6. Puree the roasted garlic in a food processor with 1 tablespoon of olive oil until smooth.
