Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon butter flavoring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed of electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Combine flour and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
  4. Mix just until blended after each addition.
  5. Stir in flavorings.
  6. Combine baking soda and vinegar; mix well.
  7. Stir into batter.
  8. Pour batter into greased and floured Bundt pan.
  9. Bake at 325° F for 50 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Cool on a rack for 15 minutes. Remove from pan.
  11. Combine lemon juice with powdered sugar; drizzle over cake while it is warm.
