Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. margarine, softened
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • flour

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening, margarine, and sugar in a mixer bowl until light and fluffy.
  2. Blend in eggs, vanilla, buttermilk, baking powder, soda, and salt.
  3. Add flour gradually until mixture forms a dough that can be easily rolled.
  4. Roll to 3/8 inch thickness on a floured surface.
  5. Cut as desired.
  6. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake at 350° for 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown.
  8. Cool on a wire rack.
