Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 c. finely chopped green pepper
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 can (28 oz.) tomatoes with liquid, cut up
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 c. celery

Instructions

  1. In a medium skillet, sauté onions, green pepper, and celery until tender.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
  3. Make dumplings.
  4. Add dumplings to the bubbling mixture by tablespoons.
  5. Cover tightly and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes.
