Green Beans Surprise

A creamy and cheesy green bean casserole with crispy cracker topping, perfect as a comforting side dish for family dinners and holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 cans French-style green beans
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 lb. grated Cheddar cheese
  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1 pkg. Ritz crackers

Instructions

  1. Cook the green beans slowly with no seasonings until heated through.
  2. Saute sliced onions in 1 stick of margarine until soft.
  3. Add the sautéed onions, grated Cheddar cheese, and cream of mushroom soup to the cooked green beans and mix well.
  4. Crumble Ritz crackers into the remaining 1 stick of margarine until completely absorbed.
  5. Place the bean mixture in a greased baking pan and sprinkle the cracker mixture on top.
  6. Bake at 350°F until the top is golden brown.
