Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
  • Dash of pepper
  • 3 cups Bisquick baking mix
  • 3/4 cup cold water
  • 3/4 cup shredded American cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook and stir ground beef in a 10-inch skillet until brown; drain.
  2. Stir in shredded cabbage, chopped onion, 2 tablespoons water, salt, caraway seed, and pepper.
  3. Cover and simmer until cabbage is tender, about 10 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  5. Mix Bisquick baking mix and 3/4 cup cold water until soft dough forms; beat vigorously 20 strokes.
  6. Gently shape dough into a ball on a floured surface.
  7. Knead 5 times.
  8. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness.
  9. Cut into 4-inch rounds and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  10. Make a hole in the center of each round to within 1/2-inch of the edge.
  11. Spoon beef mixture into each shell and sprinkle with shredded American cheese.
  12. Bake until light brown, about 10 to 12 minutes.
