Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp butter or margarine
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 6 slices bread
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped green pepper
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 9 thin onion slices

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a skillet; add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Crumble bread into a mixing bowl; add milk and let stand until the bread is moist.
  3. Add eggs to the bread mixture and mix well.
  4. Stir in sautéed onions, green pepper, and seasoned salt.
  5. Add ground beef and mix until combined.
  6. Pile the mixture lightly into greased 2 1/2-inch muffin pans.
  7. Top each with a thin onion slice.
  8. Bake in a 425°F oven until browned, about 30 minutes.
