Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. margarine
  • 1 c. flour
  • 2 qt. water
  • 1 lb. hamburger meat
  • 1 large carrot, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 pkg. frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 (No. 303) can tomatoes
  • 4 Tbsp. beef based cubes

Instructions

  1. Make a white sauce by melting margarine, then gradually whisking in flour and water to form a smooth sauce.
  2. Add salt and pepper to taste, then set aside.
  3. Brown the hamburger meat in a large pot, then drain off excess fat.
  4. Add the prepared white sauce, diced carrot, diced onion, frozen mixed vegetables, canned tomatoes, and beef cubes to the pot.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
