Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup minced onion
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 pound ground chuck
  • 8 ounces can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 8 ounces grated process Cheddar cheese
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Cook macaroni as the package directs until just tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  3. Add minced onion and garlic; cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
  4. Add ground chuck; cook until browned and cooked through, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  5. Stir in tomato sauce, salt, pepper, and oregano; simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Mix cooked macaroni into the meat mixture.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  8. Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  9. In a bowl, beat eggs with milk; pour evenly over the casserole.
  10. Bake in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven for 25-30 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden.
