Ingredients

  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Boil raisins 20 minutes in a small amount of water; drain.
  2. Cream margarine and sugar, add beaten egg and beat well.
  3. Sift dry ingredients: flour, cinnamon, cloves, and baking soda.
  4. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture.
  5. Stir in the boiled raisins.
  6. Spread the batter in a greased 9-inch square pan.
  7. Sprinkle the top with sugar.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes in a 350°F oven.
  9. Cool and cut into squares.
