Hoisin Hens offer tender Cornish game hens glazed in a savory hoisin and soy sauce mixture, perfect for an Asian-inspired flavorful main course suitable for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 Cornish game hens
  • 1 1/2 c. diced onions
  • 2 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 tsp. fresh ginger root
  • 1/4 c. soy sauce
  • 1/4 c. hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 c. dry sherry
  • 1/2 c. chicken stock

Instructions

  1. Place a heavy wok or pan over high heat.
  2. Add olive oil and heat until hot.
  3. Add the Cornish game hens, breast side down.
  4. Reduce heat to medium.
  5. Cover and cook for 6 minutes, turning the hens at half time.
  6. Add diced onions, minced garlic, fresh ginger, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, dry sherry, and chicken stock. Combine well.
  7. Cover and simmer over medium heat for 40 minutes, turning the hens at half time.
  8. Remove hens and halve them.
  9. Cook the sauce uncovered if needed to reduce until thick and syrupy.
