Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 cup cottage cheese (small curd)
  • 1 tsp. instant onion
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. dill seed
  • 1 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Soak the yeast in lukewarm water.
  2. Heat the cottage cheese until it is lukewarm.
  3. Add sugar, instant onion, butter, dill seed, salt, baking soda, egg, and yeast mixture to the cottage cheese.
  4. Gradually add flour to make a stiff dough, beating well after each addition.
  5. Knead the dough, then cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 50 to 60 minutes.
  6. Stir the dough down; turn into a well-greased 1 1/2-quart round 8-inch casserole dish.
  7. Let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or slightly more.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40 to 50 minutes until golden brown.
