Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 to 3 lb. ground chuck or sirloin
  • 3 to 4 large onions, chopped
  • 3 c. raw rice
  • 6 c. water
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 Tbsp. salt or to taste
  • 1 tsp. black pepper or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp. beef bouillon granules
  • 2 medium size cabbage heads

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, sauté chopped onions in butter until golden.
  2. Rinse rice under cold water and drain.
  3. Add 6 cups of water to a 2-quart pot and bring to a boil.
  4. Add rice to the boiling water and cook uncovered until boiling, then reduce heat to low.
  5. Simmer, covered, until rice absorbs water, but do not overcook.
  6. Remove from heat when rice is done.
