Tips & Substitutions
For added flavor, consider using homemade chicken broth instead of water. You can also substitute the cream of chicken soup with a similar cream of mushroom soup for a different twist. If you prefer a herbaceous note, fresh herbs like thyme or sage can be added. Adjust the seasoning to your taste, especially if using pre-seasoned broth.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use stale bread for this stuffing?
Yes, stale bread works well for stuffing as it absorbs the liquid better. If your bread is fresh, toasting it as directed in the recipe will help achieve the right texture. Just ensure the cubes are evenly toasted to prevent sogginess.
How can I make this stuffing vegetarian?
To adapt this recipe for a vegetarian diet, replace the cream of chicken soup with a cream of mushroom or a plant-based alternative. Use vegetable broth instead of water, and you can skip the butter in favor of olive oil or a vegan butter substitute.
Can I prepare this stuffing ahead of time?
Absolutely! You can assemble the stuffing a day in advance. Just mix the ingredients and store them in the baking dish, covered, in the refrigerator. When ready to bake, simply add a few extra minutes to the cooking time if baking straight from the fridge.
