Hominy Stuffing
A hearty hominy stuffing with celery, onion, green pepper, and seasoned bread cubes, perfect for holiday feasts or comforting family dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups finely diced celery
- 1 large onion, diced fine ⓘ
- 1/2 medium green pepper, chopped fine ⓘ
- 1/4 cup butter ⓘ
- 1 1/2 packets instant chicken broth mix ⓘ
- 4 1/2 cups cooked hominy grits ⓘ
- 3 slices whole wheat bread, cubed ⓘ
- 1/2 cup chicken broth ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon salt ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder ⓘ
- 3/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning ⓘ
- 1/8 teaspoon white pepper ⓘ
Instructions
- In a heavy skillet, melt the butter.
- Add the diced celery, onion, green pepper, and broth mix; stir and cook until the onion is transparent.
- Transfer the cooked mixture to a greased 2 1/2-quart casserole.
- Add the cooked hominy grits, cubed bread, chicken broth, salt, garlic powder, poultry seasoning, and white pepper; stir well to combine.
- Bake at 450°F for 30 minutes or until the top is golden.
