Honey Jumbos are sweet, tender cookies infused with honey and spiced with nutmeg, perfect for satisfying dessert cravings or serving at gatherings with a delightful glaze.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup coffee with 4 level tablespoons soda
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla
  • 6 1/2 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together.
  2. Let stand in refrigerator overnight.
  3. Roll out the dough, not too thin.
  4. Cut with a doughnut cutter or in oblong shapes.
  5. Bake at 350° to 400° Fahrenheit.
  6. Cool the cookies.
  7. Frost with powdered sugar frosting, if desired.
