Ingredients

  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 3/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup tomato juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 8 to 10 slices boiled ham thinly sliced
  • 16 ounces shredded Mozzarella cheese divided

Instructions

  1. Combine the beaten eggs, bread crumbs, tomato juice, dried oregano, salt, pepper, and minced garlic; mix well and add to the ground beef.
  2. Prepare a 13 x 10 inch foil and spread the ground beef mixture within about an inch of the edges.
  3. Arrange the sliced boiled ham in the middle of the beef mixture and sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the ham.
  4. Starting from the short end, carefully roll the meat mixture, lifting the foil as you go, and seal the edges to enclose the filling.
  5. Discard the foil after rolling.
  6. Place the rolled meat in a 13 x 9 inch baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for one hour.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese on top and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
