Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 lb. hamburger
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 4 (15 oz.) cans pork and beans
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper
  • 2 cans refrigerator biscuits
  • 1/2 lb. Cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Cook hamburger and chopped onion in a skillet until browned; drain excess fat.
  2. Add all remaining ingredients except cheese and biscuits to the skillet and stir to combine.
  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for several minutes to meld flavors.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  5. Arrange refrigerator biscuits on top of the beef and bean mixture.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 30 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Remove from oven, sprinkle shredded Cheddar cheese evenly over the top, and bake until cheese is melted.
