Ingredients

  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 cup nuts
  • 1 unbaked pie pastry

Instructions

  1. Beat the egg yolks slightly; add sugar, spices, vinegar, and melted butter.
  2. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and gently fold into the yolk mixture.
  3. Add nuts and raisins if desired.
  4. Pour the mixture into an unbaked pie pastry lined in a pie plate.
  5. Bake in a medium oven at 350°F for about 45 minutes, keeping an eye on it until golden.
  6. Serve with whipped cream.
