Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 cup cold instant coffee
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Beat margarine, sugar, and eggs until fluffy.
  2. Add cocoa and mix well.
  3. Add cold instant coffee and mix slowly.
  4. Add flour and baking soda, mix until combined.
  5. Beat the batter for 1 minute.
  6. Add boiling water and mix slowly until well blended.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan or two round cake pans.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 to 30 minutes.
  9. Allow the cake to cool before frosting.
