Ingredients

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seed
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 2 cups unsifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
  3. In a large bowl, beat sour cream, sugar, and softened butter with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs, poppy seed, and orange juice until well mixed.
  5. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to the mixture.
  6. Beat at low speed until just combined.
  7. Spoon the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the bread to cool, then remove from the pan, wrap in plastic, and let sit overnight.
