Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup flaked coconut, toasted if desired
  • 3/4 cup chopped macadamia nuts or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl.
  2. Beat butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl until creamy.
  3. Beat in the egg.
  4. Gradually blend in the flour mixture.
  5. Stir in chocolate chips, toasted coconut, and chopped nuts.
  6. Drop by slightly rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake in preheated 375°F (190°C) oven for 8 to 11 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
  8. Let stand for 2 minutes.
  9. Remove to wire racks to cool completely.
