Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup light molasses
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  2. Add boiling water and baking soda to the mixture and stir until well combined.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased pan.
  4. Bake at 350°F until done, approximately 20 minutes.
