- If yogurt is used, add 2 tablespoons water and set aside.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and nutmeg.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- Fold in chopped pears.
- Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
