Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 8 oz. onion
  • 1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp. turmeric
  • 3 red peppers
  • 3 dried chilies
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 8 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 can (15 1/2 oz.) red kidney beans

Instructions

  1. Saute ground beef, diced onion, and diced garlic in a large pot until browned and fragrant.
  2. Add spices including turmeric, oregano, cumin, black pepper, salt, chili powder, red peppers, and dried chilies. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring well.
  3. Add stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and red kidney beans to the pot. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
