Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 2 c. milk, scalded
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 8 or 9 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. cardamom
  • currants
  • raisins
  • candied fruit
  • nuts

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  2. Knead the mixture until smooth and well combined.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased baking pan.
  6. Bake until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on top, approximately 60 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then serve.
